When Supporters (mentors, coaches, on demand advisors, managers etc) or Mentees (entrepreneurs, future leaders) onboard onto a Kandu network, they make some choices about which subnetworks they want to be a part of, and also provide some data points such as what their needs are or what they know.
Kandu’s algorithm then makes suggested matches based on how many of these data points match to other individuals. A higher graded match - eg 90% - should be a better match for you than a lower grade eg 50%.
These grades are meant to steer users towards people whose needs/offers might suggest they are a good match with them, to explore a longer term mentoring or coaching relationship, or just to catch up once to share ideas, knowledge or connections. The gradings do not suggest that matched individuals will be a chemistry match, as we do not match on personality - only on skills.
Matches only suggest that there may be a relationship worth exploring based on skills and expertise required or offered - so if you do get a higher graded match (eg 70-90%), please do consider messaging them and arranging a call or coffee.
If you get a lower grade match eg 40-60%, please have a look at their profile an decide for yourself whether its worth you connecting with each other based on their full profile including their biography or 'pitch' as we call it.
You will be able to see on what basis you have been matched by viewing the profile of the person you have been matched with. The basis for the match will be highlighted in green as shown below - so a person viewing this profile will know they have been matched on Business to Business, Technology, Networking & Marketplaces in terms of expertise, and customer discovery / research in terms of skills.
As well as seeing your suggested matches on this platform, you will also receive an automatically generated email once a week which lists your suggested matches, and links through to your match profiles. If you wish to switch off these alerts, please unsubscribe at the bottom of the emails.
You may get matches to your peers - other mentors or other mentees depending on which user type you are - as Kandu appreciates that mentees often have valuable knowledge to share and mentors also have information needs. These will be clearly signposted in your Peers section if you have one - some of our older networks do not separate out these matches but you can do it yourself using filters.
